RE: I just bought a Zip Plus! (RecordIt was included...)

Edward,

I just bought a Zip Plus tonight (works great!) and RecordIt is included on the Install CD.

Just a few comments for everyone on Zip Plus:

* I have a SCSI Zip at home which I'll be able to give to a friend now. (I bet he buys disks for it!)

* Instead of a Tools Disk, there's a Tools CD. I think this shows that even Iomega believes that Zip and CD will co-exist. They have no intention (IMHO) of ever replacing CD's as low-cost software distribution mediums. It's been my contention from the beginning that they don't have to replace CD (and probably not even 3 1/2 floppies) to become a standard.

* The "on-off switch" is kind of interesting. It's not an extra switch, but is integrated into the eject button. Hit it once to eject. Again to turn it off. Insert a disk and it automatically turns back on.

* The install program (and probably 5 minute multimedia presentation) is great!

* Online registration is very detailed. They're getting lots of good marketing information.

* There's tons of software included, all of which increases disk usage.

* The power cord is much, much smaller and lighter.

* The SCSI/Parallel combination is a great way to go! I can use SCSI at home for speed and parallel with my laptop or most other computers.

* No problems whatsoever. Fast, easy hookup.

* It's amazing how many people asked me about it walking from the shelf at CompUSA to the checkout counter to my car to the hotel room. Someone at the shelf pointed to a SyJet when I picked up the ZipPlus and said that "someone online compared them and it was 3 times as fast" (he didn't say which was faster, and I didn't ask). The clerk said he didn't know they were there until today. The guy at the checkout counter said "cool box!" The girl at the next checkout counter told him that it had SCSI and Parallel. A guy in the elevator at the hotel asked me about it.
