The issue I'm concerned with took place after Oregon was already a state, in Idaho Territory. Idaho Territory at the time was gigantic--bigger than almost all of the countries today. It was ripped from Washington territory, Dakota Territory, and Nebraska Territory. All of Idaho, all of Montana, and almost all of Wyoming. It was ungovernable.

Congress was preoccupied with the Civil War, but there were fixes shortly after my incident was resolved.

Last summer when I was on top of a 9000 foot mountain with my lifelong friend, a party came up to visit our lookout. One of them was a potential resource for me, and I intend to contact her. She was a historian of some kind. Funny how things happen, huh!
