I don't know about training, but we got a harness that works better to preclude pulling. It has little straps that go under the front arm pits of the dog, looping back up to a ring on the collar, and the leash is clipped to that. When the dog pulls, the straps pull up on the armpits and apparently the dog doesn't like it. Our dog quit pulling almost as soon as we tried it. Our son's dog did too, just a few months ago when we recommended it.
