ABC News Reporter Brian Ross said it. I don't know what his source was.

His exact quote was:

"In the case of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the information was very valuable, particularly names and addresses of people who were involved with al Qaeda in this country and in Europe.

And in one particular plot, which would involve an airline attack on the tallest building in Los Angeles, known as the Library Tower."

He claimed that more than a dozen AQ plots to kill people were stopped specifically from information the got from coerced interrogation. Now, as a news man he is not required to divulge his sources, but when asked outrigth whether he believed what he learned from those sources, he said he did. I watched the interview on TV. So, that's all the proof I have.

I would say also that this position has been corroborated (i.e., that this information saved lives) by former CIA Agent John Kiriakou, who now opposes the use of waterboarding as "unnecessary" since he believes we now have a handle on the situation and he DOES believe it is torture.

MY interpretation of his remarks (you can read them and make your own) is that there is no reason to be torturing people at this point because the threat isn't what it used to be.

Which is probably something I'd agree with and certainly, it is consistent with Bush administration policy.
