The Senate Finance Committee released close to 500 pages of additional questions for Treasury Secretary-nominee Timothy Geithner, with his answers, that did not make the cut during his more-than-three-hour confirmation hearing Wednesday.

Among the queries, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the committee’s top Republican, asked Geithner if he supports requiring hedge funds to register with the federal government, as a bill he has introduced would do.

Geithner’s answer: “The financial crisis has highlighted the urgent need to overhaul the oversight of our financial system. With an objective of bringing greater transparency and oversight, I believe that we should consider requiring registration of hedge funds. If confirmed, I look forward to working with Congress on this.”
