I think Obama has it right. He's open about his faith but isn't about legislating it.

He's in favor of a woman's right to choose and he's against a federal amendment banning gay marriage, just as he was against Proposition 8 in California.

He's even the first President i know of to give a shout out to non-believers:

It's a long way from Bush Sr. who is reported to have said:

No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God.
