isn't it nice what this guy has had to inherit from his predecessor? How many years have the DTV box guys known they had a deadline and how many years could they have known the true demand? Perhaps they could have also started providing the boxes LAST year? The mandate that the FCC has and the broadcasting guys have is that they have to provide emergency broadcast service to everyone over the air. If we now just went to digital and did not provide for this, the mandate of the FCC would be destroyed. Som Obama is just dealing with yet another failing of the last few years administration and issuing a reality check to the FCC. You can bet that the FCC will be a much differnt place in 6 months, as alot of heads are rolling as we speak.
