Update to Q ratio: Smithers has adjusted S&P asset value down to 691. Long term average PE equilibrium value would be 867. The Q ratio has historically been slightly better as a predictor of stock markets globally though it could be argued the movement towards services has made it less relevant. OTOH A lot of those earnings of the last few years (housing related, consumer, financial and possibly energy) are not coming back soon if at all.
