You got that right. That's what happens when politicians start trying to solve everybody's problems.

As for Geithner, I don't give him a pass. It seems as though you are arguing that we need somebody in that position who knows the system well enough to set up deals for himself like those you list for NYSE CEOs.

contracts (disclosed to the SEC and shareholders) for their pay to include all the taxes due on their compensation (a "gross up" provision). When an employer pays that compensation, the employee pays no taxes and just deposits the money.

Stuff like that is unconscionable. Equally unconscionable is paying rebates to people who don't even pay taxes. Either you pay taxes or you don't. We don't need people at that level figuring out new ways to do gerrymander the system.

Chuck Schumer is one of my least favorite politicians. I don't cotton to much of what he says.
