herb,

i recently bought the denon ah-d7000 headphones.
it was so detailed and accurate, i had to re-rip all my favorite mp3 tracks, which i had use 192kbs previously for my iphone and shure se530s use. for the road, that was very good.

now the denon revealed just too much of the flaws in that setup.

i then bought home the apogee duet dac/firewire breakout box/headphone amp that was specifically designed for the mac.
that sounded even better than straight off the mac.

next, i ordered the grace m902 pre-amp/amp/dac/headphone amp for even even higher level of audio output.

with the money spend for me, me, me
i had to invest in a small sacd/receiver for junior and those speakers. now i am searching for cables.

when i re-rip those mp3.

i did it all in apple lossless, thus the size of my itunes directory went from 25gb before to 65gb now and i am not even 1/3 the way through with re-rip.

apple has this normalization volume thing during playback, did that worked at all for you?

paul
