To see them lose that battle in a huge red market like Texas is very encouraging. Balance, what a concept. Actually, it's not clear they lost. At least didn't lose the war. As I recall, the board was 8 to 7, in favor. And one can see how tenuous that majority as by the subsequent votes. In addition, as I understand it, even the 8 to 7 majority is tenuous over the longer term. The social conservatives are extremely well organized on this score and it's taken some very hard work by more moderate voices to get to this point. Check this out.
