The campaign to take over school boards and such dates back to the 80's at least, so if all they have now is a tenuous division in the largest red state left in the country, I consider that a very encouraging pushback by moderates.

Just checked the 2008 and 2004 presidential election results and saw the Republican margin cut from 22% to 11%. If another 6% of voters there are convinced that Obama should stay in, even Texas could go blue.

That would be a major step in a fundamental political realignment.
