Utah Jazz Owner Miller’s Feet Amputated From Diabetic Complications

By Nancy Kercheval

Jan. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Utah Jazz owner Larry Miller had his feet amputated today because of complications from diabetes, his son Greg said.

Miller, 64, had his lower legs removed to six inches below the knee, said Greg Miller, chief executive officer of the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies and the National Basketball Association team.

“Larry is doing well and is expected to continue to recover in the coming weeks and months,” Greg Miller said in an e-mail.

Miller bought a 50 percent interest in the Jazz in 1985, and purchased the remainder in 1986 over concerns it would be bought by out-of-state investors who would move the team. He believed that once the team was gone, it would be nearly impossible to get another NBA franchise in Salt Lake City because it is a small market.
