OK, I've downloaded Sound Studio 3 Demo and I'm very pleased. It gives you full access to the program for 9 launches. I was able, in one launch, to correct the volume on every track of the two albums I listed as examples. Barenaked Ladies and Rickie Lee Jones.

The program performed flawlessly. It even lets you preview the sound level by playing the track while setting a plus or minus db adjustment. It was a piece of cake.

I went -2.5db first on Barenaked Ladies before I discovered the preview function. Should have went -4.5db.

I went +3.5db on Rickie Lee Jones. That was perfect.

Both albums were in my iTunes, digitized in AAC 128. I loaded each track individually from the iTunes Music folder, applied the filter and then saved over the existing file in AAC 128. All meta data stayed intact and was editable from Sound Studio. The operation was totally transparent to iTunes. Sound Studio did change the Finder default "launch with" application, but that can be corrected quickly and easily in the Finder. The album icons remained intact.

I know I've barely scratched the surface of this program, but I have to give it a big thumbs up! I just purchased a license.

The only gaff is this little note in the license:

The above code is good for 1-2 months following your purchase, then it
expires. Should you need to re-register your application after the code
expires, simply retrieve a new one using our Code Retrieval System at
store.freeverse.com

I'm not too keen on that. Most of the time a month or more will go by before I get back to using this kind of software again. That means that every time I want to use it, I'll have to reactivate it.
