What is failing is government manipulation of money and markets. The markets are making rational decisions. As long as asset values are falling, they are not going to loan precious cash (that may keep them afloat) against collateral that is decreasing in value. I wouldn't. It seems to me there may be two choices. Nationalize the entire financial industry or let it collapse. Pick your poison.
