Interesting how the two presidents who had the highest approval rating at the beginning of their presidencies, since WWII, didn't dominate the popular vote. Kennedy got 49.7% against Nixon's 49.6, Obama did better but got under 53%.

That could imply that Kennedy and Obama where respected by people who found the other candidate slightly better, or it could be a sign that these early presidential approval ratings aren't all that meaningful.
