Interesting story, obviously it couldn't have been related from a first person perspective.

I remember an experience I had more than once, while laying out in the desert on a still night at camp, when I was young. The experience was some sort of auditory hallucination. I would begin to hear noise, an unusual musical wailing type of sound and it got louder and louder. While I would think to myself, introspectively, was this real or imagined, it seemed to grow to a deafening roar until I cleared my throat to get a realistic perspective, and noted that it was nothing. I thought that was weird but it didn't freak me out. I suppose one could get carried away with that as a mystical experience, I never lost any flesh over it though. Actually it was kind of annoying, so I moved my camp close to a babbling creek, which was soothing.
