I agree with everything you said. A religious school per se is no panacea. Personal ethics and self-control don't accrue to the students by osmosis. When a family tries to abdicate their own efforts and energies re their kids and just dump them in a religious school hoping for wonderful things to happen, disappointment often follows. I did, though, have to chuckle at the madrassa example right after Cosmic Force pointed to a Pentacostal serial killer. What is it about liberals in that they have such a tendency to focus on the outlier to make a point? It's not just you two either....really is a common trait, I've noticed.
