Bentway, > MS is much less of a monopoly than Intel. It's got Apple, Linux and Google all competing for it's OS space.

Hmmm, never thought of it that way.

It used to be that everything had to run on Microsoft. Intel, AMD, Via, Cyrix all had to run Windows (and later Linux).

Microsoft stagnates and releases that nightmare of an OS called Vista. Apple capitalizes with those very funny "Mac vs. PC" commercials. Linux of course is the de facto standard for servers and workstations. And now Google is an up-n-coming player in software.

Meanwhile Cyrix and Via fall off the map. AMD isn't too far behind. Intel wins over Apple in a surprise move. Intel is pushing hard into Netbooks and maybe one day cell phones. Intel could even take over graphics and get a game console design win again.

Yeah, I can see Intel being a bigger "monopoly" than Microsoft. Oh well, sucks to be M$ ...
