Thanks EC. I enjoyed reading your reply. I sure agree that a requirement of success is just plain luck. However it is hard to be lucky if you withdraw from the game.

I also agree that the game is full of risk, and risk must be respected even (especially ?) when playing the mining game. But as in any competitive game, success is only one disaster away! I'll keep on trying.... to turn that risk to advantage... to dodge the torpedoes.
