Israel has pulled out of settlements, even using force against Israeli settlers to get them to leave. What happened? The areas where the settlers used to live are now areas for Hamas to launch rocket attacks from. I agree that Israel will need to dismantle settlements, but reasonably they aren't going to do so when the response to doing so is more attacks.
