I am not particularly concerned by the efforts of software FDE providers like Secude and WinMagic to offer management of hardware FDE in their products. They are just trying to retain enterprise customers during the inevitable transition from software FDE to hardware FDE.

Rather, I think the announced intention of McAfee to offer centralized management of FDE hard drives represents the real competitive threat to Wave's FDE Management product:

To my knowledge, McAfee has not announced that it intends to work with any FDE drive maker other than Seagate. Nor has McAfee announced any product that would manage TPMs. Nevertheless, those who have followed my posts for a while will recall that I have always regarded competition from a large and established security software provider like Symantec or McAfee to be the most important competitive threat.
