I have to agree. This is a new ballgame for investors/ traders. Vast amounts of information for research so readily available on the Internet can be presented instantaneously in liaisons such as this, for the world to see and assess. Forums like SI have been evolving (w/ expected growing pains!) into real resources for info, wherein many can share their piece. While still inchoate, these forums are a real part of the new medium. It's true they can lend the all too dangerous 'anonymity factor', but I think readers are learning to recognize the hypesters and fertilizer spreaders (though there are still a few getting through). Given that, SI (etc.) is a wonderful vehicle for the banding together of many arms.
As Kaiser put it in a recent paper, the Net is reversing the roles of the predator-prey, where the broker/promoter used to be the predator, controlling information, and the 'investor' was the prey, able only to access limited information primarily through his broker and other orthodox methods (mainstream media, ...). Now, through this Web of information, we are gaining a much more equal playing field, and able to treat the investment target as our prey. No longer are we sheer victims, but instead we're able to share our individual research & knowledge together, thereby arming us for much better investment decisions.
Finally, public impression, as can be expressed here, is part of the reality... I think these types of liberal discussion forums are a vital element in this. We are enduring the information revolution. -Granted, there's still plenty of deception, but we're wising up!! (phew! --Forgive my verbosity! ie, --babble) - - - - - -
Looks like another week of no news... (I haven't heard anything-- I'm just guessing).
