The reason I have always believed in market timing vs. buy-and-hold is because I knew there would be cliffs. And actually, I DO have disdain for greedy people who closed their eyes to the cliffs, and loaded up on internet stocks, used leverage, bought on margin, borrowed on their homes to buy stocks, etc. I have more money right now that I had the day I retired in 2001. You don't have to be a perma-bear to succeed.
