"Righties" are no more susceptible to "this kind of stuff" than Lefties are to absurd arguments about the cost of Sarah Palin's campaign attire, about how waterboarding and embarrassing prisoners is torture, about how every misconduct by a soldier was authorized at the highest level, about how Obama didn't spend any more than Bush on the Inauguration, etc.

You said yourself that the writing appealed to you, I'm sure it does to many others as well.

I'm sure most people have pride in their countries, regardless of where they live. Do you not think the Brits or the French think THEIR countries are the best? I'd best most do. Nothing wrong with that.

What's different about America is that not only do ALL true Americans think their country is the best on Earth, a lot of people from around the world see it that way as well.

Frankly, in most parts of the world today (ME excluded) -- even those in which Bush's actions were unpopular -- America continues to be thought of as the absolute bastion of freedom. And when it comes down to it, the rest of the world is counting on us to bail their asses out of a sling.

Anyone who lives here and doesn't see America as the best country on the face of the Earth really doesn't deserve to be here IMO.
