The extreme TD-SCDMA side looks to be just whistling inane tunes in the dark now. This fellow wants $500 billion. It's amazing (in-credible?) that the tremendously successful China Mobile will now be hobbled with TD.

"....As well as a quarter of China's $1.95 trillion foreign exchange reserves, Li Jinliang, of the Commission of Electronic Science and Technology under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), said in an entry on his blog dated Jan. 19 that the government should allocate $14.63 billion from its planned $584.97 billion economic stimulus package to TD-SCDMA this year.

....The government should also issue more policies to protect TD-SCDMA, according to Li. Such policies should include prohibiting TD-SCDMA users from migrating to other networks, limiting the import of foreign technologies, increasing government procurements of TD-SCDMA handsets and data cards and allocating special frequency spectrums for TD-SCDMA to cover rural areas"
