You guys are all ragging on Geithner for his income tax scamming, but, admit it - wouldn't we ALL have done the same thing? Like good, tax-avoiding Americans? He actually got away with it, as I'm sure he had done the cost/benefit analysis and determined that:

He'd more than likely get away with it.

If he got "caught", he'd have a little financial downside, but no criminal penalties.

After all, the guy isn't a precog. He had no way to predict that he'd be nominated for a cabinet position by Obama years later.

Obama's own vetting turned it up. Obama sees it as "embarrasing" for the G man, but hardly disqualifying - the only opinion that really counts. He PAID the taxes, although he didn't have to.

I WANT sharp people in government, not saints. Sharp saints would be perfect, but why let unattainable perfection be the enemy of the good?

Obama has decided that THIS man is the one to be in the most important cabinet post in government at this time. I'll go with that.
