"No need to exaggerate. Most of the entire oil sands operations have been put into place in less than ten years."

Horsefeathers. I was there in '78, drilling outside Anzac and Fort MacMurray. There was already more than 10 years' work done, even then.

How long would it take? From first negotiations, to permits and construction and first flow from Alberta through the Rockies to tankers on the BC coast? Depends. First Nations opposition, capital commitments, etc. The small Enbridge Gateway project will take an estimated 2-3 years construction. Additional larger pipelines, longer.

The whole process (as stated in the post) where Oil Sands production is completely diverted from north-south to north-west would easily take 10 years.

Agreed, that's unlikely to happen. Or I'd be buying differently.
