All very valid stuff I am sure. I am not disputing the relevance of fibre channel in certain environments and I know storage is one where it has always been quite succesful.

But lets look at my comments in perspect..the posting I was referring to suggested that fibe channel would become the desktop connectiviy technology of choice (over ATM or gigabit ethernet).

I am saying that whilst neither ATM or gigabit ethernet will become the desktop technology of choice in the short term (currently 10Mbps ethernet and rapidly moving to 100Mbps fast ethernet) they will likley become the technology of choice in say 2-3 years. Fibre channel meantime will continue to make it in its own niches.....and good luck to it.......but it ain't gonna end up on my desktop, yours or anyone elses in the short, medium or longer term.

I've also just worked out what IMHO means at last !! So ......its IMHO.
