If things haven't turned around in a year, Rush may be more popular than ever. Most people don't have the time, education or intellect to figure things out on their own, so they turn to people like Rush to let them know what they 'should' think. It also allows them to feel like they are "part of something", a group. The Left has the same sort of thing, but they don't really have the "hot button issues" that could give them a more fervent and faithful following. Equal pay for women just doesn't rouse people like the "death of the unborn". It's probably good that the left doesn't have such fanatic followers, or we'd be seeing the stuff they get in France all the time.
