I see the Obama administration has fired the first protectionist shot with their demand that all steel for the United Statian infrastructure programme be manufactured in the US. I haven't been able to find out yet whether that abrogates NAFTA or GATT. That was covered on theCDN National News last night. The questions raised were exactly that...what about NAFTA? Also it was speculated that CDN steel manuf. could see a 40% loss in steel sales to the US and cause closures of plant(s). U.S. protectionism was my first thought on hearing this item.
