One of the characteristics of long-term use of opiate painkillers is the same as that of a a street addict -- the more you use, the more you HAVE to use for it to be effective.

An entire medical specialty has grown up around treatment of pain over the last ten years ("Interventional Pain Management") which is involved with the management of intractable pain. These docs are experts at dealing with the effects of long-term user of painkillers.

There is nothing inherently shocking about Limabaugh or anyone else needing large dosages of pain medicine to deal with his pain. It he was taking them to "get off", the same applies.
