>> remember the 60s too, koan; there was a reason we called it "dope". Step away from the pipe.<<
I have found it is almsot impossible for hard core conservative's like yourself and hard core liberals like me to communicate, so I will leave it at that. The differences between Palin, and Limbaugh, present leaders of the Republican party and Obama says it all to me.
Just a few notes:
The 60's was a very important era as the first global existential movement in the history of mankind. The 60's was first and foremost an intellectual movement. That is why the headquarters was UC Berkeley. Mostly in the 60's we just read books and debated ideas.
As far a dope goes, for most of my life I never drank or smoked pot. Even today I use both in very small amounts. And I was the State Driector of Alcholism and Drug abuse and wrote the state plan.
We have different peceptions of reality. I do consider the democrats to have more compassion than Republicans. And I believe the democrats respect education and science more than Republican's. Liberals also, will not stand for any bigotry like gay bashing, sexism or racism. The reason more gays, blacks, minorities and women vote democratic.
And liberals mostly believe in science, global warming and evolution, which is a good example. Most conservatives do not believe in global warming and evolution.
In order for the Republcian's to become a major party today you are going to have to woo Blacks, Hispanics, women and blue collar workers. That means you are going to have to change your policies.
Republicans will have to stop union bashing, gay bashing, support affirmative action and support legislation like the equal right ammendment for women or the Lilly bill Obama just signed ensuring fair pay in the work place. A bill Bush refused to sign
Think you can change your ideas that much??
Good luck. |
