And if you had said this to begin with, why you thought the editorial to be good, I probably would have distinguished between the Times Editorial (which was generally without substantive reasoning) and your opinion (here) which has tried to provide some.

I don't agree with much of what you've said here, but at least your not just blessing platitudes.

You're right---I'm not going to change my opinion of the NY Times editorials in general, but occasionally my views and theirs coincide.

I agree with unemployment insurance--the concept in general.

I just think we ought to be debating (the congress) all these additional social welfare enactments instead of flying them through as part of the stimulus package.

If we want to become Sweden, or something like it, we (the country) should talk about it.
