1/30/09 update
Stocks were unable to follow up on Wednesday's rally and Wall Street had little to show for a week's worth of trading. They had even less to show for the month, with the S&P 500's drop of -8.6% being the worst January performance on record.
At Friday's close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was down -6.06% CYTD, or "Contest Year To Date" (vs. down -6.00% CYTD a week ago). However, the Nasdaq Biotech Index actually advanced a bit for the week, closing up 2.06% CYTD (vs. down -1.32% CYTD a week ago). The Contest median also had an Ok week, closing up .58% CYTD (vs. down -3.08% CYTD a week ago).
ENZYME's portfolio held on to first place, closing the week up 16.35% CYTD. SCARAM's portfolio beat out my own for second place with an 11.62 % CYTD gain.
At Friday's close, 17 of the 32 Contest portfolios were in the black and 13 of the 32 beat the NBI.
Enjoy the weekend folks!
