Actually I believe he was the last white World Heavy Weight Champ of all classes. Sure, later we had some Russian or so winning the 'World' championship for some of several obscure boxing associations but that hardly counts IMO. Back tne, June 26th, 1959, there was only one champ of one association. That was before the first split into WBC (basically the legacy group) and WBA, the renegades.

I listened to the fight on radio back in Sweden, all Sweden did.

Today 'Aftonbladet' a leading Swedish newspaper, questioned their readers if they considered Ingo the best Swedish athlete of all times or not. Out of 26k the no sayers hit almost 51%. Sickening!!! He didn't even win the price for the best Swedish athlete 1959.

That was shared between some soccer player and low land skier.

I almost can agree with Ted that sometimes those Swedes are very strange indeed.
