Yup.
Loeb is a champion of shareholders, and an activist in the best sense of the word. Most shareholders don't even vote their shares, or even read the notification materials.
If more shareholders would get involved like Mr. Loeb and not let managements and boards walk all over us, we could have avoided many of the problems in the NASDAQ crash of 2001 and some of the current colossal tragic mess.
As an individual investor and poster in the 1990's here who criticized and shorted a few companies, and posted my opinions about suspected P&Ds, I had my yahoo.com private registration and personal information disclosed by Yahoo! due to a subpoena in a Texas law suit, IMHO a SLAPP suit. (It was disconcerting and disappointing, and Yahoo! didn't protest or offer any support for my privacy.)
Dan Loeb seemed to be one of those guys who didn't stand for the kind of shit being promoted by these unscrupulous characters with mega lawyers. You can judge a man by his friends of which Mr. Pink had many, including legendary posters here; and you can also get an idea of his character and game-changer defenses by viewing his enemies who tended to be the P&D types, you know those "XYZ Company is GOING TO THE MOON!!!" multiple alias trolls.
Unless someone knows something I don't know, We need more Dan Loebs, to balance the creepy CEO's and their frictionless boards that don't look out for investors. Those who were and still are virtually rewarded for incompetence, as our equity assets dissolved.
We need our Superheroes, our Lone Rangers, our Captain America's, and Mr. Pink fit the bill.
