I'm also well aware of the Republican answer to that problem since Reagan, which is to "cut revenue".

Reagan showed that cutting taxes in the correct ways increases revenue.



The Republican idea of a "stimulus" is to just cut EVERYBODY'S taxes again. That seems to be their ONLY idea, just like it's been their only idea since 1980.


Cutting taxes is the only stimulus that has been shown to work on a consistent basis.

I believe most people would support the stimulus if it were in fact that. But when you have a huge proportion of it that is crap like free health insurance, like extended unemployment benefits, like food stamps, this isn't stimulus. This is recreating the welfare state that nearly killed us 20 years ago.

If it was New Deal-type stimulus, I think people would be embracing it. But the American people, when they see what's going on here, do not want it. We're apt to get it, but we don't want it.
