Seems like the sulphur gas oozing out of this Chinese sheetrock is eating metal. Since all modern stick-frame construction is reinforced at the joins with fairly thin sheet metal triangulation pieces, this presents a real structural hazard. Especially in hurricane prone Florida. Not to mention that all the plumbing and electrical wiring is held in place by thin sheet metal brackets in the walls.

In a stud wall, you add a diagonal piece called the "wind brace" that triagulates the section and gives it it's strength. When I was framing, these were wood. Since, they've been replaced with s sheet metal strip. Oops!
