this is NOTHING like the cases you cited....this woman ELECTED to have either in vitro or take fertility drugs after having 6 children already....i see this as a moral and ethical failure of the medical profession

I'm not arguing the morals of that woman because I think she needs help. But for the hospital, this is no different than keeping somebody alive with an artificial heart. Do you know how friggin' expensive an artificial heart transplant is- and most of those go into people OVER 50 years old. Whats ethical about that? Are we going to keep people alive until they are 200 years old one day because we can? Hospitals do this all the time. They BRING people to the USA for free surgery on all kinds of stuff and many of those surgeries are more expensive than this woman. If you are arguing COST, and purely cost which seems to be your point, she is not an outlier, not even close.
