I think the BIG MYTH for Reagan was that he had somehow ended the Cold War by throwing money down the "$1000 dollar toilet" and hitting the Kremlin with the "$1000 dollar hammer".

There is no doubt, whatsoever, that Reagan ended the Cold War.

He perceived the economic trouble in Moscow as an opening as far back as the late 60s. His plan to end the Cold War by forcing the USSR to spend themselves into oblivion is well-documented and took shape at that time.

So, it is more than a little disingenuous, after the fact, to say, "Oh, but he didn't really do that". He damned well did. He knew precisely what he was doing and made it happen.

Like SDI, the entire plan was in place years before he took office. SDI was more nebulous but nevertheless was conceived by Reagan in the 60s, in early discussions with Edward Teller. But Teller's plan to use nuclear weapons to kill incoming missiles were cut off at the knees by Reagan because eliminating proliferation was critical to him.

You obviously do not know shit about Reagan or what he was doing. I recommend, before you comment on such matters, that you take the time to understand the history. Otherwise, you'll be relegated to the idiot status of a tejek or Shepard.
