Americans' saving more, spending less You know, long term that's a very good thing... short term it sucks. It's like the banks are saying, the FDIC regulators are coming in and saying you have to clean up your balance sheet and have more cash on the books. The treasury and the admin are coming in and saying you have to lend more. The banks are saying "WTF the only way to lend more is to lend to folks with lousy credit, and then we can't clean up our balance sheet and we're doing the same shit that got us in this mess". You paint yourself in this corner and there really are no good choices. Only two good pieces of news today.....the yield curve on treasuries is steepening, suggesting that things are improving and the BDI continues to improve, suggesting that China is back in the marketplace: bloomberg.com Frankly, if we're going to crash, I want to get it over with now. This death by a thousand cuts is starting to get real old.
