$10 billion cable industry looks good due to Concast's success with 6,000 channels on channel one VOD.

But the real success is going to be the cost of HFC vs. fiber networks using dwdm and other dm. Fiber network costs $3500 per home wired.

Then the cost of telco telephony, internet ISP and worldwide broadcasting networks added up to much more than triple play subscription of $79/99 per month.

2009 will be a year of triple play acceptance. DTV converters are not uniform in quality. Some receives more channels than others, when UHF frequencies can not reach your indoor antenna.

So, some price points will separate the fiber systems and HFC systems. Market share will be fought for longer term contracts.
