i believe you however i expect material will drop by spring too. distributors have to make a living too. i know one cabinet maker who just closed his shop.. no business, he didn't even get the chance to cut costs.

i expect this spring i will have more neighbors cutting their own lawns again. today, i am the only one in the development. Same with painting my house a couple of years ago. three neighbors came up to me , why are you painting your house? duh, i am retired, it's great exercise , i do not have a deadline to get the job done. I finished my house while my neighbor next door had gone through four contractors trying to get his house painted. the one on the other side, they missed pressure washing one side of his house. and he only put one coat over the house and you couldn't even tell it was done. Oh, both never had trim done.

i got prices for my roof from $15,000 down to $6800. Most were in the $8500/$10,500. range. i hired low bidder $6800. after seeing his work and watching him personally inspecting roof the following morning. I expect it was fill in work to keep his laborers busy. Again, same supplies, only difference would have been labor charge.
