Right now no bat system but that is in the planning. During the night I don't need much, just running the water pump in the summer and possibly running the air-to-water pump for the heating system (not yet installed) in the winter.

My place is extremely well isolated though, a modern reconstruction of those old farmhouses with 2 feet thick walls and 2-3 inches of polyurethan foam under the roof tiles keeping the heat out in the summer and the warmth in during colder times.

Of course, as long as the power grid is on, I don't have any problem, just getting paid for feeding it and paying it if drawing on it.

But with European politics of no nukes (political correct in most countries) and no coal fired plants (CO2), the dependency on Russia's gas is hitting the sky in some countries including Italy so in the future grid failures like we used to have in CA may become a serious problem.

I also have a Honda 1.2kW motor generator, which works well - as long as gasoline is no problem. Sorry to say so, but our kids may face more such problems than we do right now.
