Beltway Cluelessness On Display

By John
Power Line

This excerpt from Andrea Mitchell's interview of Jim DeMint on Tom Daschle's withdrawal as HHS Secretary, courtesy of Newsbusters, is revealing of the beltway mindset. Mitchell takes Daschle's downfall as evidence that the Republicans have brought Washington's brief era of bipartisanship to a close, and suggests that voters will blame Republicans for Daschle's demise:

<<< "So, this does read to the public as though the Republicans went after this man, someone that the President very much wanted, and brought him down." >>>

Mitchell displays remarkable cluelessness (combined, of course, with wishful thinking). Actually, it "reads to the public" as though Daschle and other prominent Democrats are tax cheats and hypocrites.
