You said John, after reading your non-stop posts of gloom and doom, to cheer myself up it was necessary to remind myself that the stock market is an anticipatory mechanism and normally turns up long before the economy does.

I disagree. In 2007 the stock market turned down approximately 2-months prior to what was called the peak in economic activity, December, 2007.

The general consensus has been that the stock market looks out 6-months, but recent data suggests it is getting closer to acting concurrently, likely due to better access to information.

That would suggest if we get new lows here, your gloom and doom should be extended a bit longer.
