Don't sell the statist short. They believe that with proper design of the system it will be immune to human frailties. Once such a system is in place the slide to rationing is inevitable. The goal is equality of outcomes regardless of effort or effectiveness of effort. The sick parody of their mentality is to calculate the median life expectancy and exterminate everyone who reaches it. This would guarantee a relatively equal outcome.
