Well first Stein; It is exactly what he said Saturday on Fox. He said we need to huge amounts of money into our system and that we should loan money to anyone ANYONE who would take the money.

And Krugman; Well I'm using the filling in the hole as tongue and cheek. Goodness, I'm not really suggesting Krugman is saying we should dig holes. What does Krugman want to spend money on John? If you think I am misrepresenting his thinking, then tell me where we spend all this money? You can't spend this kind of money on infrastructure, there just isn't enough of them out there. But by spending on the laundry list of democratic wish lists - which Krugman and you want to do - you are just giving us more of what we have had in the past - more deficit spending on pet projects. I don't think that is what Americans want - and thus the debate. Giving into Lane's argument,I agree that there is a stimulus in the broadest sense by dishing out food stamps or unemployment benefits or family planning - but that is extremely inefficent spending in my mind and the long term result is not a stimulus at all but because we have to borrow these huge amounts in the end we lose. So I too am full of ..............nonsense.
