Even if the ability to shovel money to contractors was the only reason for the invasion, that ideas isn't relevant to the point under discussion (it might be more important than the point under discussion but it would be a different issue).

The contracts in question where not "privatizing everything", they where government contracts. That's not a private sector initiative any more than then pork spending for a new road is. Its government money either way.

Also the reason why a lot of money was wasted was that controls where removed or worked around in the name of speed. The controls can be costly in terms of delay or even dollars, but they also help prevent fraud and poor accounting of money spent.

The stimulus bill is a new massive rushed spending item. More government spending, and more rushing to spend it, just like in Iraq.
